There is something special about watching a skilled sign painter bring a brush, paint, and a blank surface to life. From smooth lettering to bold colors and precise brushwork, traditional hand-painted signs are an art form that takes patience, practice, and the right instruction.
Recently, Rey Soto (INSTAGRAM @reycr8) shared a glimpse of his sign painting journey, highlighting his mentor, Alex Kurakake of SMART ALEX SIGNS HAND PAINTED SIGN COMPANY, putting in work with some eye-catching lime green paint.

As Rey joked in his caption, Alex was getting down like James Brown with the lime green! Rey wasn't quite sure what the name of the brush was, but promised to report back once he found out. That is part of the fun of learning a traditional craft: every class brings new techniques, new tools, and something new to discover.
